There are several situations in which a financial advisor would be expressly needed.
• You are extremely busy and have little to no free time. In this case, a financial advisor can save on your most precious commodity--time.
• You are uninterested or overwhelmed by finances. If, for instance, setting a budget is a nuisance and you can’t even imagine having to sort through anything complicated, then hiring a financial advisor would be money well spent for peace of mind.
• You have recently graduated from school or just finished residency and are now expected to be financially independent. Overwhelming student loan debt affects the future of many young medical professionals. You may be in need of some financial education on consolidating student loans, budgeting properly, choosing from insurance options and making wise investments. These are all necessary life skills, and getting professional advice now is better than having to pay for costly mistakes later.
• You are self-employed. As an entrepreneur, you most likely have many roles to fill. You are the doctor or dentist, the marketer, the practice manager, and you probably don’t have time to investigate or be aware of the numerous options available to you and your employees. A financial advisor can help you sort through the many options for running and managing a successful practice.
• You are considering a complicated set of benefits in combination with personal insurance and investments. You don’t want your new benefits to conflict or overlap with your current insurance and investments. A careful review by a qualified advisor will avoid gaps and overlap.
• You are recently widowed or divorced and your spouse had previously been handling the financial affairs. Dealing with the emotional upset of divorce or death is stressful and being in an unknown financial situation without a trusted advisor can be difficult.
