The Retirement Plan Specialist Supports affiliated independent financial advisors on proposed and active retirement plans for clients and communicates directly with advisors and clients. Additionally, provides administration and support for all employee participants in the Larson Financial Group 401k plan.

Job Responsibilities:

Relationships/ Communications

  • Advising clients and advisors on all aspects of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, including: 401k’s, 403b’s, 457’s, SEP’s, SIMPLE’s and Defined Benefit pension plans
  • Assisting with the sale, implementation, conversion, and on-going administration of both start-up and existing retirement plans (45+ plans)
  • Providing recommendations on plan selection and plan design
  • Acting as the liaison between LFG and various Third-Party Administrators (TPA’s) and Recordkeepers
  • Working directly with a client’s CPA to coordinate retirement planning strategies and resolve/clarify tax-related items
  • Preparing enrollment materials and educational materials for participant enrollment meetings
  • Preparing marketing materials and presentations to aid in the sale and implementation of all retirement plans
  • Researching and analyzing prospective plans for inefficiencies to aid in the appointment of an LFG Advisor
  • Advising on the fiduciary component of plan administration from the advisor’s and the plan sponsor’s perspective
    Internal Retirement Plans
  • Facilitating the enrollment of new participants into the Larson Financial Group 401k plan
  • Processing loans, distributions, and rollovers for LFG employees
  • Monitoring current and proposed regulations to ensure plan compliance
  • Completing special projects assigned by the Investment Services Senior Manager
  • Publishing the annual edition of the Retirement Plan Resource Guide


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • 5+ years of retirement plan experience
  • Successful completion of the FINRA series 7 and series 63 exams
  • Completion of Chartered retirement plans specialists (CRPS) course

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of the FINRA series 65 or 66
  • Is familiar with a multitude of fund families and investment strategies
  • Has advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Constantly improve product and regulatory knowledge, including continuing education and training to enhance job performance
  • Work with operational team members to troubleshoot and resolve client issues
  • Maintaining required records
  • Support other team members with their objectives and duties if needed
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Highly organized with a high attention to detail
